Vikram Will Steal the Show : A.L Vijay Director Of Deiva Magan!
Vikram Will Steal the Show
After delivering a hat-trick in Kireedom, Poi Solla Porom and Madrassapattinam, director Vijay is now working on a project with Vikram and Anushka, which has kindled the interest of K-town.
"Though Deiva Magan is one of the many options we are toying with, the title hasn't been finalised. The film is under production and as soon as it nears completion, we'll choose a name that's apt," begins Vijay.
Almost immediately after Vijay announced the project, it was reported that the film was based on the Hollywood flick, I Am Sam. But the director refutes the allegation. "I don't know how such rumours start! The film is based on love and relationships. The purest form of love is that of a mother's. There are no expectations in this relationship. The film is about the war between the heart and brain," he reveals.
The director says that 60 per cent of the film, which also has Anushka, Amala Paul and Santhanam in important roles, is complete and will release this April as a summer treat. But he adds that the final call will be producer Mohan's.
The re-recording for the film is happening simultaneously. "We are shooting with the background score so that the actors can get into the mood and emote with perfection," he informs.
What about reports that suggested he had roped in Divya Spandana and his nephew to play important roles in the film? "My nephew is playing a minor role in the film. He comes in a scene which was canned in a school. And no, I haven't roped in Divya. Even she was surprised to hear this and called me up to clarify. We had a good laugh over it," he says.
Rubbishing rumours about Anushka walking out of the project, Vijay says, "Anushka is very much part of the film. She's an awesome actress. She's committed to her work."
Vijay is all praise for Amala Paul as well. "Amala is playing a character that's beyond her age and yet, has pulled it off convincingly. Now, she's become a close friend to the entire unit," he says.
But it is Vikram's performance that, Vijay says, will be highlight of the film. "I wrote the script of the film two years ago. I told Vikram that I'd like to work with him on this project whenever he was ready. Vikram loved the script, but we both got busy with other commitments. I'm glad we've finally worked it out now," he says.
Vijay opines that a director needs a great actor to make his film work. "That way, I'm lucky to have talented actors working on my project. Vikram gives me five options to choose from while performing in a scene. He's worked hard to look the part he is playing. The way he walks, talks and even looks will receive applause from the audience. He will definitely steal the show," he signs off.
